Sister Derby Featured In New Netflix Movie Titled 'Rainbow'

Sister Derby has increased her value by receiving yet another worldwide honor.

The Ghanaian singer and actress said on Instagram that she will have a brief cameo in a Spanish film produced by Netflix and directed by acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Paco Leon.

The motion picture, titled “Rainbow,” is a coming-of-age drama about a young woman with remarkable musical talent who, after a fight with her father, leaves home with her dog. The movie will include music, dancing, fashion, plastic arts, and other elements of modern society in its interpretation of the American musical Wizard of Oz.

The actress Deborah Vanessa Owusu-Bonsu, a Ghanaian-Romanian, did not disclose her part in the film. She did admit, though, that a Spanish musician friend of hers named Lapili had recommended her.

She wrote; Last year I ‘cameod’ in an amazing Netflix Spain movie created by @pacoleon #Rainbow #RainbowPeli We shot our scene over 12 hours at the outskirts of Madrid, Spain in the blazing hot summer (my favorite time of the year). Thanks to my superstar friend @lapili_ for recommending me! Being a part was so much fun. It’s out on @netflixes on 30 September 2022!

Since her debut in 2015 with the feature film 14: 32, which had its Ghanaian premiere on September 3, 2015 at the National Theatre, the actress has been making waves in the film business.

She portrayed the character Dofi in the film.

Deborah Vanessa Owusu-Bonsu, whose parents are Ashanti and Romanian, was born in Ghana.

She is a graphic artist, model, musician, academic, and hostess of television programs.

She is the sister of well-known hip-hop artist Wanlov the Kubolor, a cast member in the movie Coz Ov Moni.

Following Christ the King International School, Owusu-Bonsu attended Wesley Girls’ High School.

Owusu-Bonsu subsequently earned a master’s degree in book/journal publishing from the University of the Arts London after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in publishing studies from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
