In what has been touted as his final tour, Sir Elton John will perform as the headliner at Glastonbury Festival the following year.
The final evening of the well-attended, fully booked festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset, which runs from June 21–25, 2023, will feature a performance by the Rocket Man vocalist on the Pyramid Stage.
Sir Elton expressed his “utmost excitement” at performing as the headliner at Glastonbury in 2023.
Before the COVID-19 epidemic interrupted the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, the celebrity had been giving performances all over the world.
He stated: “There is no better way to bid farewell to my British supporters as my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour draws to a close.
“They have been excellent beyond belief, and they have helped me through all the highs and lows of my professional life.
“Glastonbury is frequently recognized as a critical turning point in the careers of new musicians I speak to on my radio program; the festival’s sincere, enthusiastic backing for the best up-and-coming talent is something I’ve long respected.”
“I’ve been discussing it with Emily Eavis for the past few weeks, and I can’t wait to get into the festival vibe. It will be really emotional.”
Emily Eavis, a co-organizer of Glastonbury, said: “It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the one and only Elton John will headline the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday night of next year’s festival, marking his first-ever Glastonbury visit.
“We will close the Festival and commemorate this monumental occasion in both of our histories with the mother of all send-offs since this will be Elton’s final performance in the UK of his final-ever tour.
“We are overjoyed to bring the Rocket Man to Worthy Farm at last!”
