Simon Cowell has resigned from his position as a judge on the upcoming season of X Factor Israel—an Israeli reality show.
The producer and reality TV personality, who is presently a judge on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, was set to also examine contestants for the Israeli version of The X Factor.
However, over the weekend, Reshet, the Israeli company that produces X Factor locally, confirmed Cowell cancelled without any reasons for his decision.
Cowell has not yet said anything on the move through a report in Jewish News, Britain’s largest Jewish newspaper—citing an unidentified source close to the media personality that asserted Cowell could not be part in the show for “several reasons” and was “bitterly disappointed.”

Last week, rumours of Simon Cowell pulling out of the show started up in the wake of turmoil in the region between Israel and Hamas—there various reports of conflicts between Jewish and Arab Israelis.
Nonetheless, the creator of the original version of The X Factor in Britain, announced in December that he would a judge on the fourth season of X Factor Israel.
In fact, his team helped the local show select judges for the new season, comprising Israeli singer Netta Barzilai, alongside Israeli singers Aviv Geffen, Ran Danker, Miri Mesika, and Margalit Tzanani.
Simon broke had a back injury in a bike accident last year and was compelled to take a break from television to undergo surgery and extensive rehab.
For the first time this year, the winner of X Factor Israel will represent the country in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. The new season is set to air on Israeli TV channel Reshet 13 later this year.
