Shakira's ex-boyfriend Gerard Piqué and girlfriend Clara Chia Marti make Instagram presence official

In June 2022, Gerard Piqué and his girlfriend Clara Chia Marti made their Instagram relationship official. See the couple’s first blog entry.

This post has caused a loca, loca, loca reaction on the internet.

On January 25, Gerard Piqué shared a photo with Clara Chia Marti to make their relationship on the Instagram public. Clara and Gerard smiled slightly at the camera in the picture that was uploaded to his page. They were wearing similar black shirts and posed closely together.

The duo made their social media debut after Shakira, who broke up with the soccer star in June 2022, appeared to disparage Gerard and Clara in her most recent track, a joint effort with Argentine DJ Bizarrap dubbed “BZRP Music Session #53.”

She sings, “I wish you good success with my purported substitute / I don’t even know what happened to you,” in some of the song’s English translations. “I can’t even tell you apart; you’re so bizarre; I’m worth two of 22; you exchanged a Ferrari for a Twingo; you traded a Rolex for a Casio.”

Shakira and Gerard first got to know one another in 2010 while they were filming the music video for her song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”. They made their relationship known in 2011 before having boys, Milan, now 9, and Sasha, age 7.

A little over ten years later, the couple made their breakup public.

In a joint statement to E! News in June 2022, they expressed their sadness for having to announce their separation. “We ask that you respect our children’s privacy since it is our top responsibility to ensure their safety. I appreciate your patience.”

Less than three months later, Gerard and Clara publicly acknowledged their relationship in pictures taken at a wedding in Catalonia, Spain, and published by the Daily Mail in August 2022.

Shakira recently discussed her and Gerard’s separation, calling it “very tough.”

The 45-year-old said to Elle in September, “It’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it. “Additionally, because our separation is not like a typical separation and because I am well-known. So, it’s been difficult for my kids as much as for me.”

Gerard hasn’t publicly addressed their breakup since, although he did seem to make fun of Shakira’s lyrics by saying he had a sponsorship contract with Casio for his project King’s League, according to People. In contrast to Gerard’s assertion, Casio subsequently released a statement that, when translated into English, denied “any agreement for this sponsorship or interest in making it happen.”
