Sunday Mother’s Day saw Naa Dzama, an on air personality with YFM Accra and her foundation, Purple Angels kids foundation, put smiles on the faces of children battling cancer at the korle bu teaching hospital’s pediatric oncology unit. The kids were gifted with care packages including towels, shower gel, sponge, books, water bottles, crayons and pencils, toys, antibacterial wipes, bowl and cutlery, disinfectants, t rolls etc to help their stay at the hospital a bit more comfortable.
The team arrived at the hospital at 11:15 and was met by the In charge nurse and her team at the pediatric oncology unit. We first went to the Day care unit which temporarily houses pediatric oncology patients as they receive some treatments and will leave when done.
Then we went up to the third floor , to the ward that houses those on admission. The youngest patient would not be more a year old with the oldest being about 14. Naa Dzama went round to each child and engaged them, making them laugh in the process. Because they are champions, She put a gold medal around their necks. ‘To be honest, the kids were more interested and excited over the medals than anything else’ she said. There was an air gratitude all round by the time we were leaving.
I want to thank Mr. Jeremiah Darlington Quainoo. Ceo of JADARLS GROUP OF COMPANIES, Joy Industries and Hair Excellency for their support in numerous ways. YCare and YFM.
We are immediately commencing our next projects, ‘Make a wish’ An initiative that grants wishes, any wish at all of kids with life threatening diseases. The aim is show them anything is possible, that they can survive cancer. We have two 12 yr old currently we need to grant wishes for so donations are still welcomed.
