Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as “Lilwin” in the entertainment industry, has started his “One Student, One Pen” project.
The initiative aims to provide every student in the Ashanti Region with a pen to help them in their studies.
The project, which is being carried out in conjunction with the Ghana Education Service’s Ashanti Regional Directorate and DPS Ball Point Pens, was launched on Thursday at the Kumasi Anglican School.
The multi-award-winning actor revealed in an interview that the effort is part of his commitment to giving back to the community.
Lilwin, who is also the proprietor of Great Minds International School in Offinso Ahenkro in the Ashanti Region, said it was very important to him to provide kids with the necessary tools to enhance their learning, and expressed the hope that all pupils would meet the demands of their studies.
“I enjoy giving back to society, particularly in the field of education.
I’m always eager to assist these younger individuals in achieving their goals of becoming better citizens “he stated.
“A pen is a crucial learning tool, but it has sadly become prohibitively expensive, with some parents unable to purchase them for their children, particularly in rural areas.”
“As a result, this project aims to address this issue, and I’m hoping to have the intended impact.”
It’s only the beginning of a major project, and I want to thank everyone who has helped me in various ways to make it a success.”
He stated that it was his desire to expand this programme beyond the Ashanti Region’s borders in order to satisfy the requirements of all Ghanaian students.
Lilwin has been in the news recently following his traditional wedding to Maame Serwaa, his long-time girlfriend.
Their white wedding is slated to take place this December.
