‘It’s Your Turn’, MzVee Recounts How Her Mother Reminds Her Of Marriage

Ghanaian singer, Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, better known by her stage name, Mzvee has stated that she feels pressured to marry by her fans and family.

Last Friday, the singer revealed in an interview with Hitz FM that her mother has been reminding her of an assurance she (MzVee) gave her that she would marry in her twenties.

“My mum once in a while will call and say ‘it is your turn’ because all my sisters have… ‘you told me 27, now you are 28.’ Then the next day she says ‘you told me 28 now you are 29’.”

On Thursday, June 23, 2022, the ‘Sing My Name‘ hitmaker turned 30. And it appears that the pressure is becoming too much for her to bear.

Although she didn’t expect her fans’ comments urging her to marry to bother her, she did admit that her delayed marriage causes her anxiety.

MzVee, who has been in the music industry for ten years, released her latest album, 10:30, to commemorate the time she has been producing music professionally.

Borkor Borkor, Natural Girl, and Dancehall Queen were among the hit singles from MzVee’s debut solo album.

“I never thought it would get to the point where, when I post a picture, someone can comment, ‘You, be there, don’t go and get married.'”
So it’s not just pressure from fans or people on social media, but also pressure from within that I never expected to feel.

“I’m not going to lie, I get worried.
The only concern is that it is not particularly large.”
