Motivation and high morale for the team is a a challenge itself. Comparing legacy systems/products and innovation is not fair. Need to consider what kind of legacy system you are referring to. Anything that has been developed in the past is company's legacy and not just something "old-fashioned". It's what has been developed under company's philosophy and culture and should be respected. Explaining to the team how proud should be to support this culture can be what they need to be motivated. Everyone would like to deal with innovative projects but you can't stop supporting existing systems, products and customers.

Balancing innovation with legacy systems is tough, but keeping morale high is crucial. Start by clearly communicating the vision behind both tasks, helping the team see their impact. Celebrate all wins—big or small—to show progress. Encourage collaboration across functions to blend expertise in both legacy systems and new tech. Empower the team to solve problems creatively and invest in their growth through learning opportunities. Set realistic goals, prioritizing tasks to prevent burnout. Lastly, maintain an open feedback loop to address concerns early, keeping the team engaged and motivated through the challenges.
