With GitHub Copilot coding agent, available in public preview, developers can tackle tech debt, fix bugs, and even implement new features at scale—simply delegate tasks to Copilot and let it work in the background while you focus on something else.

Today, we’re making it easier to kick off new tasks and track progress on the new Agents page. You can get there by clicking the Copilot icon in the header on any page on github.com, then picking Agents from the sidebar.

To give Copilot a task, just pick a repository, describe what you want Copilot to do, then click Start task. Copilot will create a draft pull request, and then tag you for review. Too many ideas, too little time? Copilot can work on multiple tasks at once.

You can hand over a task to Copilot from the Agents page or Copilot Chat, or by assigning an issue to Copilot. Once Copilot has started working on a task, the Agents page makes it easy to keep track of progress and know when it’s time to review.

Who can use this feature

The Agents page is available to all users with Copilot Pro or Copilot Pro+, as well as Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise users where an administrator has enabled Copilot coding agent.
