Cheers Star Kirstie Alley Passes Away Following Short Illness

The two-time Emmy-winning actress starred in Look Who’s Talking as well as the popular US sitcom that ran for several years in the 1980s. She finished second in the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother.

Kirstie Alley, who gained notoriety for her role in the American sitcom Cheers, passed away at the age of 71.

“We are heartbroken to inform you that our beautiful, fierce, and beloved mother has passed away following a brief struggle with cancer, which was only recently detected,” her children wrote in a statement.

She battled valiantly while surrounded by her immediate family, leaving us with little doubt about her unending love of life and whatever adventures lie ahead.

In the popular US sitcom Cheers, where she played Rebecca Howe, played by Ted Danson, Alley received the most acclaim for her intermittent love interest role as Sam, the proprietor of a Boston bar.

She also appeared in the popular 1989 romantic comedy Look Who’s Talking with John Travolta.

On social media, the actor paid respect to her. “One of the most unique relationships I’ve ever had was with Kirstie. I cherish you, Kirstie “Along with a picture of the late actor, he said on Instagram. “I’m confident that we’ll cross paths again.”

She had her own sitcom, Veronica’s Closet, on the US network NBC from 1997 to 2000.

Later in 2018, she competed in UK Celebrity Big Brother, where she came in second place.
