Former winners of the British LGBT Awards include Sir Elton John, Edward Enninful, Hillary Clinton, Kylie Minogue, Little Mix, Munroe Bergdorf, and Demi Lovato. The awards recognize the top LGBT+ activists, allies, and celebrities. The ceremony for this year takes place in June.
The British LGBT Awards had a number of celebrities up for awards this year, including Sir Rod Stewart, Harry Styles, Alex Scott, and Joe Lycett.
In November, Lycett gained notoriety before the World Cup in Qatar, where it is against the law to practice homosexuality, when he publicly pressured David Beckham to back out of a rumored £10 million deal with the country, threatening to spend £10,000 of his own money if Beckham didn’t.
Stewart expressed his disapproval of Qatar’s human rights record in an interview with The Sunday Times, adding that it “would have been excellent” for the opening ceremony to feature his song The Killing of Georgie, which is about the murder of a gay man in the 1970s. Actually, over $1 million was offered to me 15 months ago for me to perform there, he said. “I declined it… Going is not appropriate.”

Sue Perkins, Lizzo, Alison Hammond, Emma Watson, Rebel Wilson, Michelle Visage, Luke Evans, and Graham Norton are among the other celebrities who have been shortlisted for the awards.
Leading LGBT+ activists, allies, and celebrities who have campaigned to improve the rights of LGBT+ persons during the past 12 months are recognized by the British LGBT Awards.
“It is more vital than ever that we shed a light on those who have stood shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community, through what has been another very hard 12 months for the community,” British LGBT Awards creator Sarah Garrett said on announcing the awards.
The nominees, which are a diverse group of well-known LGBT+ individuals, groups, and allies, have all shown a dedication to advancing LGBT+ rights.
Who wants to do what?

The LGBT Awards presentation for this year takes place on June 23.
Lycett’s money-shredding prank, which was followed by the admission that the money was phony and the real amount had been donated to charity, has been nominated for the media moment of the year award.
The World Cup commentator Scott wearing the One Love armband in Qatar is also among the moments nominated for the prize, along with Jack Rooke’s comedy series Big Boys and Ncuti Gatwah and Yasmin Finney’s Doctor Who appearance. For their same-sex Strictly Come Dancing partnership in 2021, Johannes Radebe and John Whaite took home the award the previous year.
Along with Hammond, Watson, Styles, Visage, Pink, Katherine Ryan, Jenna Ortega, Patrick Stewart, and Simone Ashley, Sir Rod is among the celebrities’ ally nominees.
While Anne-Marie, Becky Hill, Lizzo, and Maneskin are on the music prize shortlist, Billy Porter, Emma Corrin, Rebel Wilson, and Luke Evans are on the LGBT+ celebrity award shortlist.
Sir Elton John, Edward Enninful, Hillary Clinton, Kylie Minogue, Little Mix, Munroe Bergdorf, and Demi Lovato are just a few of the other past recipients of the British LGBT Award.
