Black Sherif, Gyakie, Camidoh, KiDi, Others Lands Nomination At AFRIMA 2022

In collaboration with the African Union Commission, the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) organizers have made public the official list of nominees for the 2022 ceremony (AUC).

On Wednesday, September 14, the list was revealed, and Ghana received nine nominations across the 39 categories.

Black Sherif is the most nominated person in Ghana with four. He had tough opposition when nominated for the Best Male Artiste in Western Africa award from Burna Boy, Fireboy DML, Kizz Daniel, Rema, and Wizkid.

He was given a slot in the Song of the Year category thanks to his popular song, “Kwaku The Traveller.” Burna Boy (Last Last), Kizz Daniel (Buga), Fireboy DML (Peru Remix), and Rema are also competing for the honor (Calm Down).
A nomination for Best Artist, Duo, or Group in African Hip-Hop also includes Black Sherif. He received a nomination for his appearance on the song “Always” by the Nigerian musician Darkoo, who is residing in the UK.

KiDi received a nomination for Best Artist, Duo, or Group in African Reggae, Ragga, and Dancehall for his work on Touch It Remix ft. Tyga.

The contenders for the African Fans Favourite award are Nektunez and Goya Menor, best known for the popular song Ameno Amapiano. Bello Falcao, Oxlade, Lojay, Joeboy, and the pair are all fierce rivals.

Gyakie, a musician, was up for Best Female Artiste in Western Africa. Nigerians Asa, Simi, Tiwa Savage, Tems, Vivian Chidid (Senegal), Soraia Ramos (Cape Verde), and Oumou Sangare are among the others in the category (Mali).

Camidoh received a nomination for Breakout Artist of the Year thanks to his popular song “Sugarcane Remix.” Asake from Nigeria, Pheelz, Daliwongo from South Africa, El Grande Toto from Morocco, and Costa Titch are all included in this category (South Africa).
Diana Asamoah, a gospel singer, was also a nominee in the category of Best Female Artist in Africa Inspirational Music. Her song “Awurade Ye” gave the animation its finishing touch.

Amaarae, a singer/songwriter, received two nominations.

Amaarae entered the competition for the Best Soundtrack Movies, Series, or Documentary award because to her song “A Body, A Coffin,” which was featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Prologue.

With six nominations each, South African outlaw Costa Titch and Congolese maestro Dadju lead the list of nominees this year.

Four nominations each were received by Tiwa Savage, Kizz Daniel, Burna Boy, and Fireboy DML.

Other significant categories, such as Artiste of the Year, Best African Rapper/Lyricist, Producer of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year, were missed by Ghana.

On September 25, 2022, at noon CAT, the public voting platform for the 2022 AFRIMA edition would go live.

Voting is available on the official website for fans of African music on the continent and beyond the world. Prior to the AFRIMA main awards presentation on December 10, 2022, voting ends at 12 a.m. (CAT).
The All Africa Music Awards for this year will take place from December 8 through December 11, 2022. On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, a special announcement regarding the host nation and venue for the awards will be made.

A four-day extravaganza of music, glitz, and glamour is planned as part of the AFRIMA awards ceremony with the goal of honoring Africa, showcasing talent, and advancing the economic potential of the region’s cultural and creative sector.
