Popular Jamaican danccehall artiste, Anthony Moses Davis, known in the musical fraternal as Beenie Man, has been detained few days by the Ghana National Security for evading Covid-19 quarantine.
Beenie Man tested positive for the virus upon his rival at the Kotoka International last week and was sent into mandatory quarantine at the AH Hotel at East Legon by health officials.
However, the artiste reportedly flaunted the Covid-19 measures and appeared on numerous media platforms and also performed at the Bhim Concert organized by Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy.
It is also reported that, Beenie Man provided a fake vaccination certificate when he was detained by the police.
This is not Beenie Man’s first encounter with law enforcement during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In December last year, the 48-year old man was placed before Courts in Jamaica for breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act(DRMA), designed to limit the spread of Covid-19.
Beenie Man was charged with breaches of the DRMA and Noise Abatement Act relating to a November 29 event in St. Elizabeth. He again drew the ire of St. Elizabeth Police that same month for promoting a New Year’s day party in the parish.
The artiste was fined $150.000 in April after pleading guilty to breaches of the DRMA. The charges relating to the Noise Abatement Act was dismissed.
