The Golden Globe winner, O Yeong-su is accused of groping a lady impermissibly in 2017.
Actor O Yeong-su from The Squid Game will go on trial for indecent assault after a woman accused him of groping her inappropriately.
The district court in the South Korean city of Seongnam last week scheduled the trial of the 78-year-old Golden Globe winner for February.
An employee of the district prosecutors’ office, Kim Myeong-un, stated that the specifics of the case could not be confirmed at this time.
At a meeting five years ago, O allegedly made unwelcome physical contact with the woman, who has not been named.
According to a local television station, he maintains his innocence and says he just held the woman’s hands to “guide her the way” while they strolled around a lake.
According to JTBC, O said that he had apologized to the woman even though he did not believe the claims against him to be true. Instead, O claimed that he did so because the woman allegedly informed him she “wouldn’t make an issue” if he did.
O won the best supporting actor Golden Globe for his work in Squid Game in January, making him the first South Korean actor to do so.
The violent Netflix drama centers on a group of adult debtors who play a series of cruel children’s games in an effort to win a portion of a monetary prize.
For his portrayal of Oh Il-nam, an enigmatic elderly contestant who joined the games after learning that he had terminal brain cancer, O was also nominated for an Emmy.
O has not yet made any public remarks regarding the accusations.
